Catching The Content Thieves

So in this part our topic is catching the content thieves and getting rid of them. We've some online tools with the help of those, we can easily get the content copiers. I've detailed some tools below and also a manual method of catching them.

1. CopyScape

CopyScape is the most popular plagiarism tool which finds the copies of a web page or content of a web page. For finding duplicate content through Copyscape, just go to Copyscape, enter the URL and press enter. Now it will take some seconds to load and find the copies. After a few seconds, the result will appear. It will show some links and you've to check each and every link. It will open that link to the Copyscape toolbar for telling you the exact matched content. There the matched content will be highlighted. Now you've to get the original URL from the Copyscape toolbar, open it and check the owner of that blog/site. So, you've got the copycat of your blog.

2. DupliChecker

This is the another best anti plagiarism tool which lets you find out the text copied content. This tool is a little different from CopyScape. In this you will need to insert the text content in the input box or you can even upload that text file .Doc or .Txt extension. Then it will take some seconds to find the copies of that text and will show the result to you. The best thing about this tool is that it will detect even a little copied paragraph. This tool is also best for those who provides the textual content on their blog.

3. PlagSpotter

PlagSpotter is one of the best tool to check duplicate content on the web. It is even powerful than above mentioned tools because I also use this and the result I'm getting is brilliant. By default, this tool is for free but for getting more features in it then you can also get premium version of it. For checking plagiarism, you will need to enter to PlagSpotter.com, Enter the URL of your web page and press "Find copies". After a short loading, it will tell you the percentage of matched content. Below the percentage, it will show the URLs of those pages where your content is matched. It will also show the toolbar when you will open any link from the result and will highlight the matched content. You can also check the whole site by giving the multiple URLs or giving the sitemap link or uploading it in the Batch URL era.

4. More Tools For Finding Plagiarism

There are tons of tools to check plagiarism but above are the best and most working and popular tools for finding duplicate content. Even if you need more tools than I've prepared a short list of plagiarism check tools which you can use. Simply, Click the below button to get the list.

5. Finding Thieves Manually

You have also a manual method to find he content thieves through the help of search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. Simply, For finding the thief you will need to search each and every post manually. Type the phrase or keyword of the post which you want to search in the search engines. Then you will get many results. Here you will need to check each and every page manually, if any content matches with your blog content then you've done it. Copycats usually also copy the images in the post. So I suggest you to add a watermark in your images and let me copycat copy your images. After that, you will need to search your own images in the Google Image Search and simply if you get the same image more than two times then one will be yours and others will be copied cat's. So this method might work for you.

6. Catching Content Thieves Through Webmaster Tools

Sometimes this method really works! You can also catch the content thieves through Webmaster tools and let me explain how? In blogging SEO, you might have heard about "Internal Link Building" right? Ok, So you're also improving the internal linking like connecting your posts by adding links on phrases in the post. Now those thieves just select the whole text, copy and paste in the post editor. They don't care about the internal links in the article and publish that post. Now we've a great tool in webmaster tools which will tell us that which sites are linking with us. Simply, we'll get those sites from that tool. It will also tell us the actual page where the entire link is available. So Go To Webmaster Tools >>  Your Site Dashboard >> Search Traffic In The Left Sidebar >> Links To Your Site. Here all the domains will be available which will be linking to you. Now if any domain is having huge links to you then click on it and it will show the each and every page where the links are available. So this is also useful method.

Getting Rid Of Content Thieves

So above tips will surely help you in finding the content copiers and now you should want to get rid of them or wanted to get that duplicate content removed. So here is the guidance on how we can do that.

1. Contact Content Scrapers For Removal Respectively

The first tip that we should contact the thief for removing our content but we should talk with him respectively not rudely. Because in blogging, we've to control our emotions even someone crosses the limit. You can contact him/her via his contact us page or even you can comment on his blog. Here is the short message which I've prepared for you guys.
Hello,

This is "Your Name" from "Your Blog". I just noticed that you came to my blog and enjoyed the content given there and I'm really happy for that. Unfortunately, I saw that you've copied some of the content from my blog and it really hurts for me.

I just want to tell you that re-publishing or copying others content is illegal and it can take you into a good damage. So please stop doing this instead of creating your own content.

The content you've copied from my blog is copyrighted to me and I've full rights to do anything with it. I can easily get the duplicate content removed from your blog but I don't want to get you in a trouble.

So, My recommendation is to remove the copied content and start building your own content. If you don't delete my data from your blog then I will need to take action against it like to reporting to the DMCA and Your hosting provider.

Best Wishes For Success In Blogging!

Thank You.

Regards,
Your Name.
Replace the bolded areas with your name and your blog name in the above message. Now it depends on the thief, he may remove your post because we've talked with him in a good banner and respectively and also warned him :D.

2. Complain Hosting Provider Of a Copycat's Site

If your copycat is having the custom domain instead of subdomain then there is a good news for you. You can complain to his/her hosting provider company for publishing duplicate content. Because DMCA has ordered to all hosting companies to take action for those domains who are stealing content from other sites. For complaining to hosting provider, first you will need to find out that where the domain is hosted. We've a tool for that. Go To Godaddy Who Is, enter the URL of the copycat's blog and press enter. Now a captcha confirmation code will come, fill it and continue the process. After that, It will give you the complete information about that domain that who is registrar of that domain and where that domain is hosted. Simply, after getting the Hosting Provider, go to that site and enter into the support page. Here you will have to send an email to them. Explain each and everything about your copyrighted content. Also give them the URL of copied and original pages. Now wait a little for the reply and see the result.

3. Report To DMCA

If the above given tips don't work for you then last method is remaining. You will need to complain the DMCA. In the complaint, you will explain your copyrighted work and will give some proofs that it's your own works. You also need to provide the duplicate material link and how you reached to duplicate content. They may require a signature of you. After that, you will send the report and it will be received to the DMCA. Now you've to wait at least 2 weeks for the reply. If they accepted that you're the real owner then they will surely take the action about it. Tomorrow, in the last part of our series, I will guide you on complaining to the DMCA.
